Some haitus…three days later and the itch to write got so bad that no amount of scratching could make it go away. Note the new header: no more punditry for this candid canine. The recent primary left me more jaded and cynical than ever – and for good reason: every political contest to which I lent my support ultimately went down in defeat. First, there was Lonegan for Governor. He lost to Christie (then eventually sold out to Christie).
Then there was David Larsen for Congress (Ver 1.0). He lost to Leonard Lance. Not long thereafter, I did what I could to help Anna Little in her attempt to unseat the insufferably liberal Frank Pallone – he prevailed.
The latest crusade for conservative righteousness ended ignominiously on the night of June 5 as David Larsen was trounced by Leonard Lance – a victory made possible only by the villainous betrayal of NJ State Senator Mike Doherty, an erstwhile “conservative” who stabbed Larsen in the back by joining the Lance campaign. He was joined by Alison McHose and Michael Patrick Carroll. A plague on all their back-stabbing houses.
The magnitude of the defeat – together with the magnitude of the effect it will have on conservative politics in New Jersey going forward – put me in quite a funk.
For my part, I’m finished with any active participation in politics. To be sure, I will not hesitate to offer my commentary on any and all political issues that chap my ass, but that’s as far as I’ll go. This Bulldog’s days of active campaigning are over. From now on I’ll be sitting on the sidelines doing what I do best: pissing all over everyone and everything piss-worthy – because someone has to do it and it might as well be me.
So what lies ahead? I have no idea…I’m doing this one day at a time. Odds are pretty good that I’ll be posting something every day, although what it may be about, I can’t begin to tell you. There will definitely be a Bulldog Cuisine post every Sunday at 11 AM and today I’ll be posting a dessert recipe that will knock your socks off.
