Simon’s Edge™ – Vol. 25

Here is Volume 25 of “Simon’s Edge,” previously called “Simon Says Weatherwise & Otherwise,” an out-of-box and alternative collection of news link substantiated intelligence on the subjects of climate, weather, technology, financial investments/commodities, socio-economic and health-related risks, issues, ideas, potential “Black Swans” and insights  to help gain Bulldog Pundit readers an ‘edge’ in the onslaught of news from around the world.

THE OTHER SIDE OF FUKUSHIMA RADIATION
After more than 9 months, still so many don’t know what is really going on with regard to radioactive rates ‘floating’ across the Pacific and apparent rising cancer levels in different parts of America.  The swarm of evidence in these articles will likely shock you … even Scientific American says, in a 12/20 linked article, “Fukushima radiation could very well lead to negative health effects in US, Canada.”

IT IS CLEAR WE ARE LOST IN THE TREES
Check out this great op-ed piece in the WSJ.  “Central banks are creating a tinderbox by keeping alive many very bad investments, fertilizing them with everything from artificially low interest rates to preferential liquidity to outright securities purchases.”  And, “This is nature’s model: overgrowth, followed by destruction of the overgrowth, and then the subsequent new growth of the healthiest and most robust, which ultimately leaves the forest and the entire ecosystem better off than they were before.”

SEAFOOD 10,000 TIMES OVER CARCINOGENIC LIMIT. FDA SAYS: EAT IT ANYWAY
This is of course not the first time that the FDA has falsified or presented manipulated data.  Studies published in the top peer-reviewed environmental health journal Environmental Health Perspectives, found the information from snatched internal FDA emails and unreleased assessments from the FDA under the Freedom of Information Act shows a big cover-up.  The FDA’s decision had little to do with safety and was likely driven by political factors, just like the Food and Drug Administration has known for years that asthma drugs actually kill more patients than asthma itself.

JUST WATCH THE FAT
Esophageal cancer is not even found in some countries.  The thousands of cases diagnosed each year could be prevented.  The title screams, “Fatty diets trigger 50% surge in heartburn in just a decade”.  The power to better health lies  within – especially when we know that reflux (i.e., acid from the stomach leaks into the esophagus, causing heartburn) has been linked to obesity, diets high in fatty foods, alcohol and smoking.  What are you going to do in 2012 to reverse your risk(s), since life is all about good health?

TSUNAMI RADIOACTIVE DEBRIS FIELD THE SIZE OF CALIFORNIA
About a fourth of the 100 million tons of debris from Japan will reach beaches up and down the West Coast in coming weeks.  It’s hard to comprehend how much debris is literally moving eastward:  2012 will be the year of the West Coast (USA) massive debris dump … and one has to think, what is going to change, and how much of it?  Factually, beaches will be changed forever.

JAPAN AND CHINA PROMOTE TRADE WITHOUT USING DOLLARS
Japan has basically been printing Yen for 20 years and buying US dollars to keep the value of the Yen depressed so that Japanese imports were affordable.  But now, a move that is significant, Japan & China will promote direct trading of the Yen and Yuan without using dollars and will encourage the development of a market for companies involved in the exchanges.  It might be surprising to know that Thailand and Nigeria are among the countries that hold Yuan-denominated government bonds through their central banks.

THE TRUTH IS COMING OUT ON JAPAN’S FUKUSHIMA COVER-UP
Why build nuclear power plants on, in or very near to tectonic plates, and then not expect the power of physics (aka tsunami) to actually take place at some point??  Even after this report, still today, both devastatingly, the Japanese government fails to make use of data on the radioactivity which clearly show toxic plumes rising from the plant, allowing millions of people to live life in a heavily-concentrated radioactive zone.  How much more tragic does this have to become?

CHINA KNOWS THAT BIG DROUGHT IS KNOCKING ON ITS DOORS
China needs tons of water to keep its economy thriving.  China will begin 4 regional programs to artificially increase precip across its nation before 2015, according to the newly released 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015) for meteorological development.

CHINA WARNS EU’S GREEN FANATICS OF GLOBAL TRADE WAR
China has warned the European Union to abandon its controversial carbon tax on airlines or risk provoking a global trade war.

THE IPCC IS A TREMENDOUS WASTE OF TIME
Rats always scurry to escape a sinking ship.  I believe that there is a strong possibility that the global cooling signal evident in the last 10 to 15 years is likely cause for concern among the scientific community trying to convince us that Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW) is a fact.  It therefore seems likely that Mr. Caldiera’s resignation is likely due to what could be viewed as his own “concerns” (or internal knowledge) that the cooling will continue and the next report (IPCC AR5) will still indicate that the models show catastrophic warming if humans don’t act to mitigate it.  Mr. Caldiera should acknowledge his true reasons for resignation, and not to try to play both sides of the political game still.
