Simon’s Edge™ – Vol. 16

Here is Volume 16 of “Simon’s Edge,” previously called “Simon Says Weatherwise & Otherwise,” an out-of-box and alternative collection of news link substantiated intelligence on the subjects of climate, weather, technology, financial investments/commodities, socio-economic and health-related risks, issues, ideas, potential “Black Swans” and insights  to help gain Bulldog Pundit readers an ‘edge’ in the onslaught of news from around the world.

BLOOMBERG NEWS SAYS THAT RETIREMENT CALCULATOR MAY BE LYING TO YOU
The online retirement calculators do not present reality.  Principal Group, Yahoo! Finance, AARP, Vanguard and so many others default to a return rate of 6-8%.  In addition, online retirement calculators may also rely on what’s known as Monte Carlo simulations which can give a false sense of security since, for the most part, they assume normally distributed returns — not the dramatic market meltdowns of recent years.

MORE THAN JUST NEIGHBORHOOD BARTERING, NEW CURRENCIES & LOCAL DEBIT CARDS ARE INCREASING
“Neighborhoods are taking their economic destiny into their own hands by looking at the money that is circulating in them.  A group of businesses in San Francisco’s Bernal Heights neighborhood started signing up residents for a debit card that offers 5% of purchases back in a local currency called Bernal Bucks when residents shop in the community.  The move follows that of two non-profits in Marin County—Coastal Marin Fund and FairBucks—which began minting their own $3 coins last year.”

MANY AMERICAN COMPANIES HAVE SURVIVED AND THRIVED BY INTERNATIONALIZING THEMSELVES, BUT IS PIZZA HUT STILL AN AMERICAN COMPANY?
“Endless pedantic regulations, punitive taxation, and an alarming shift in attitudes among the middle and working classes, not to mention the enormous drag imposed by the incompetent and bungling ruling political class, have sadly made it very difficult for small businesses, entrepreneurs and ordinary workers who are the lifeblood of the US economy to make successful headway in today’s America.”

BREAKTHROUGH ELECTROMAGNETIC DEVICE CAN REVERSE ALZHEIMER’S
Electromagnetics – my field – now being used to allow patients that have Alzheimer’s disease to regain faded cognitive skills.  It’s non-invasive, and clinical results show measurable cognitive improvement after a short treatment.  This clearly shows the power of bioelectromagnetics – using electromagnetics in stimulation for life, literally … and it won’t be long before the climate can be realized to do the same.

JAPANESE GOV’T INSIDERS REVEAL FUKUSHIMA SECRETS

The former Prime Minister of Japan has revealed that scientific advisors to the Japanese government warned that evacuations of as many as 30 million people up to 250 kilometers away from Fukushima would have to take place in the event of a worst case scenario at the stricken nuclear plant in the country’s Northeast.  The proposal would have seen Tokyo itself subject to evacuation, but the idea was immediately rejected because of the chaos it would have caused. Naoto Kan finally opened up about the deliberations that took place in the wake of the disaster.

PINK WASHING … MAKE SURE YOU KNOW THE FACTS ABOUT TO WHOM YOU GIVE BEFORE YOU DECIDE WHAT YOU GIVE
Education did not include dietary information such as abstaining from sugar (cancer’s favorite food) and toxic foods.  It didn’t include avoiding junk foods and eating whole organic foods.  Vitamin D3 was not even mentioned.  But bickering over whether radiation should come before or after chemo was discussed. How come no research into mega-dose IV vitamin C for cancer?  There are studies proving its efficacy.  Hey Komen, how come you haven’t consulted with TV star Suzanne Somers about her breast cancer cure from European mistletoe extract injections?  Fortunately, she wrote a bestseller about it.

BANGKOK UNDER MAJOR FLOOD THREAT
It is increasingly likely that Bangkok will see some serious damage from flooding as huge amounts of water flows from submerged northern rice fields toward the Gulf of Thailand.  That critical runoff is expected to be impeded by high ocean tides in mid-October, and if we take into consideration the additional heavy rains from Tropical Storm Nalgae, it could be the largest urban flood in Thailand in many years.  What is interesting is that the ITCZ (Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone) is far north from is usual position, causing the usually wet Indonesia to now be very dry.

IF THEY WEREN’T SO SERIOUS IN USING CLIMATE-ENGINEERING TECHNIQUES, IT COULD BE LAUGHABLE
“Members said they hoped that such extreme engineering techniques, which include scattering particles in the air to mimic the cooling effect of volcanoes or stationing orbiting mirrors in space to reflect sunlight, would never be needed.”  I tell you something very frankly with all the science I have collected under my belt, this kind of lunacy could very well send us into an Ice Age!

WHERE DID THE VALUES GO?  ‘FOLKS, THIS AIN’T NORMAL’ – A NEW BOOK BY FARMER JOEL
He asks, “When the biggest thrill in life is becoming competent enough on the video game to achieve level five performance, what kind of environment are we creating for our future leaders?”

ERODING THE 2ND AMENDMENT RIGHT?  IF NOT, THEN WHAT IS THIS?
California will become the fifth state to prohibit openly carrying handguns in public after Gov. Jerry Brown announced early Monday he had signed the ban into law amid heavy opposition from gun enthusiasts.  AB144 by state Assemblyman Anthony Portantino, D-Pasadena, makes it a misdemeanor to carry an exposed and unloaded gun in public or in vehicles, with violators facing up to a year in prison or a potential fine of $1,000 when the law takes effect Jan 1.

As always, thanks for reading.  I appreciate your interest.  Until next week … connect the dots, be aware and seek out the ‘edge’ you need.
