Yesterday I got a text message from Nicole who, in a moment of whimsical boredom, checked the Alexa rankings for this site (we’re still holding steady at 41,339 in the U.S. and 190,484 in the world) and then, upon checking the rankings for Conservative New Jersey, was astonished to discover that it had plunged to an all-time low of 111,442 in the U.S. and 300,986 worldwide. Yikes! I knew their Jacobin proclivities pretty much rendered them irrelevant to the greater cause of Movement Conservatism, but Geez Louise…this is pathetic. Whence this awful decline?
For an example, seek no further than a November 17 article posted by none other than Dick Zuendt himself that savages current GOP presidential front runner Newt Gingrich. I use the word “article” loosely in terms of authorship, because the litany of transgressions supposedly committed by Gingrich was not authored by Zeundt, but merely copied and pasted into the post without attribution – in other words, Standard Operating Procedure for The Dick.
There are two sets of “trangressions;” the first can be found on numerous websites – both liberal and conservative – and the second appears to be located mostly on Facebook pages. With regard to the former set of allegations, it appears that Dick did a casual Google search, found what he was looking for, and then copied and pasted it without bothering to drill deeper in an effort to find the primary source. Had he bothered to avail himself of that source, what he copied and pasted would have included hyperlinks to yet other sources that, upon further investigation on his part, would have shed contextual light on the veracity of the accusations and, perhaps, tempered his otherwise intemperate attack on the Newtmeister.
But that’s an awfully tall order to ask of a knee-jerk Jacobin ignoramus: why bother spending the time and effort to seek out the truth when it’s so much easier to dip that broad brush into the tar bucket and slather away?
And so the task falls once more upon this humble scrivener to demonstrate once more why Dick Zeundt is an idiot (and therefore the perfect useful tool for Steve “Please ride my bus to Washington, DC” Lonegan and Mike “The West Point Weasel” Doherty – who, if you didn’t already know, has endorsed Ron Paul for U.S. President.)
I could do a line-by-line analysis of the allegations, but that would take far longer than the present contingency deserves; suffice it say that The Dick needs to spend less time playing Mafia Wars on Facebook and more time doing serious research.
Here is an example of what I’m talking about:
10/22/1991 – He voted for an amendment that would create a National Police Corps.
Sounds like the Newtmeister voted for a U.S. Gestapo long before Obama proposed his Civilian Defense Corpse, no? In truth, what Gingrich voted for was legislation that would provide scholarships of up to $10,000 to eligible students at accredited four-year colleges in exchange for a four year commitment to serve local law enforcement agencies.
Now we can certainly criticize Newt for supporting legislation not authorized by the Constitution, but this hardly amounts to the creation of a National Police Corps. This example alone makes it crystal clear that Stephen Baldwin (brother of actor Alec Baldwin and the actual author of the litany) operated from an agenda less than friendly to Speaker Gingrich.
Here are some other allegations that I haven’t checked out but, if true, serve only to vindicate the Newtmeister:
08/27/1995 – He suggests that drug smuggling should carry a death sentence.
And this is a problem…how?
09/25/1996 – Introduced H.R. 4170, demanded life-sentence or execution for someone bringing 2 ounces of marijuana across the border.
Please let me pull the switch.
11/29/2006 – He called for a “Geneva Convention for terrorists” so it would be clear who the Constitution need not apply to.
Amen. Hopefully, that new convention would deprive all Jihadist combatants of ANY legal or Constitutional protection and place them at the mercy of their captors who I can only pray will torture them for any valuable information before summarily executing them.
02/13/2011 – He criticized Obama for sending less U.S. tax dollars to Egypt.
At that time, Hosni Mubarak – who kept the Islamist fanatics in line and respected the peace with Israel – was the dictator of Egypt. Now the country is about to fall into the hands of Jihadists who want to destroy Israel and all of Western Civilization. Looks like Newt was remarkably prescient.
03/25/2011 – He plans to sign as many as 200 executive orders on his first day as president.
Obviously, Dick never bothered to investigate those proposed executive orders. And there are not 200 of them. So far, I count only FOUR.
06/09/2011 – His own campaign staff resigned en masse.
Precisely how does this make Newt a phony?
07/15/2011 – His poorly managed campaign is over $1 Million in debt.
Not anymore if the recent polls are any indicator.
08/01/2011 – He hired a company to create fake Twitter to appear as if he had a following.
Oh yeah, let the crucifixion of Newt commence…because NOBODY does that.
10/07/2011 – He said he’d ignore the Supreme Court if need be.
Apparently, Newt is a proponent of nullification. Why should this be a problem for Dick Zeundt? No less a grandstanding phony than Assemblywoman Alison McHose has agitated (and for all I know continues to agitate) for the New Jersey legislature to pass a bill that nullifies Obamacare legislation – and the CNJ Zoo Crew did everything but break out the pom-poms to cheer on her effort. Sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander, is it not?
Here’s the bottom line: I have plenty of bones to pick with Newt Gingrich – enough to fill a small graveyard. But unlike Jacobin Dick (whose fetish for tar brushing conservatives he considers to be impure or heterodox has rendered him and CNJ the joke of the NJ blogosphere), I take the time and make the effort to do the research necessary to make an informed decision.
I implore you, gentle reader: before taking anything you read at CNJ seriously, double check the facts and the sources. When election day rolls around, you’ll be glad you did.
