Media Matters: Confirming What We Already Knew

For several years, Glenn Beck and others have been pointing an ever-steady finger at the liberal bias of Media Matters, ties with George Soros, and its incestuous relationship with the media, but now the Daily Caller has uncovered even more of the audacious operations of Media Matters and its influence on the mainstream press.

In an investigative series from the Caller, new light is being shed on the ties between the White House, Media Matters and the various outlets of the mainstream news media -  which are quite literally state-controlled:

Founded by (David) Brock in 2004 as a liberal counterweight to “conservative misinformation” in the press, Media Matters has in less than a decade become a powerful player in Democratic politics.

The group operates in regular coordination with the highest levels of the Obama White House, as well as with members of Congress and progressive groups around the country. Brock, who collected over $250,000 in salary from Media Matters in 2010, has himself become a major fundraiser on the left. According to an internal memo obtained by TheDC, Media Matters intends to spend nearly $20 million in 2012 to influence news coverage.

Donors have every reason to expect success, as the group’s effect on many news organizations has already been profound. “We were pretty much writing their prime time,” a former Media Matters employee said of the cable channel MSNBC. “But then virtually all the mainstream media was using our stuff.”

Mainstream news outlets have essentially been getting their talking points from Barack Obama and the White House with very few people actually calling them on it; talk radio being an exception. Media Matters, which presents itself as a credible news research outlet, has been working as the middle man between the White House and the press – spreading outright propaganda to the American public in the hopes of indoctrinating, furthering the liberal cause, and serving as a covert pusher for the Democratic party.

Despite this report, I’ll still have friends that claim there is no liberal bias on MSNBC, CNN and the likes, but if this doesn’t convince them of the phoniness of the media, I don’t know what will. Progressives have been infiltrating academia and the press for the better part of the last century and we’re seeing the intricate workings of these bedfellows spilling out before us.
In the  memo obtained by the Caller, it includes a list of “preliminary targets”:

Fox News Channel

The goal here is to intimidate, discredit and – if possible – censor the names on the list; among others. Media Matters has been relatively successful in getting their talking points broadcast via the major news networks but with Fox News leading the way in ratings – the network of Roger Ailes has become enemy number one. FNC is the last main stream outlet that hasn’t been co-opted by the Left and is the only thing keeping our news media truly free. If Fox News falls, there will be no opposing viewpoints left on television. The alternative or conservative media would be the last-man standing and unfortunately many Americans look to the major news networks for their information.

The only way that Media Matters and other like-minded organizations can be exposed for what they truly are is by the conservative media continuing to out these leftists for what they truly stand for and what their stated goals are. Media Matters stands to correct the “misinformation” being propagated by Fox News and other outlets, but their true intent is censorship. Unlike those on our side, they don’t want any opposing viewpoints. They want to shut people up. They’re all about freedom of speech until you oppose them. Then they favor police-state tactics in dealing with their so-called detractors.

I can not stress this enough. Disagreement is normal. Opposing viewpoints are also normal. But the idea that one organization seeks to propagate liberalism under the guise of objectivism is unfortunate and foreign to the American ideal. Not only do they seek to push one viewpoint and silence those who disagree, but the tenets they push are chock-full of lies and fraud. Their approach to disseminating information and “taking out” those who disagree is comparable to the way business is handled in China and Russia.

Lock-step thinking is not what has made this country great and it will only lead us to tyranny. At one point in time, Americans were unique because they couldn’t be led like lambs to slaughter. They were not lemmings waiting on their directives from Rachel Maddow, Keith Olbermann, and other liberal operatives posing as journalists.

But the tide is turning against Media Matters and their friends. By continuing to push their agenda, they are only hastening their own political defeat. Day after day, the ideas of these organizations and the greater Left are being exposed and people are turning away from it. People who have never been political are now getting involved and they are seeing, for the first time, the extent to which they’ve been lied to for years.

Thomas Jefferson once said, “Where the press is free and every man able to read, all is safe.”
We are now at that tipping point.
