A Bone to Pick With the History Channel

Every morning I post a snippet of some meaningful historical event that took place on that particular day sometime in the past, courtesy of the folks at History.com. As I perused the offerings for November 27 I came across the lead article – Pope Urban Orders the First Crusade – and figured that it would make an excellent choice for the day’s offering.

Then I read it. Good grief…there was no way I would subject my readers to this PC drivel and so I skipped it. Nevertheless, it stuck in my craw and now I’m compelled to respond.

By the end of the 11th century, the Holy Land—the area now commonly referred to as the Middle East—had become a point of conflict for European Christians. Since the 6th century, Christians frequently made pilgrimages to the birthplace of their religion, but when the Seljuk Turks took control of Jerusalem, Christians were barred from the Holy City. When the Turks then threatened to invade the Byzantine Empire and take Constantinople, Byzantine Emperor Alexius I made a special appeal to Urban for help. This was not the first appeal of its kind, but it came at an important time for Urban. Wanting to reinforce the power of the papacy, Urban seized the opportunity to unite Christian Europe under him as he fought to take back the Holy Land from the Turks.

Note that the folks at History.com have no problem referencing the “European Christians,” while the aggressors are identified only as the “Seljuk Turks.” For the record, the aggressors in this historical drama were Muslims and their aggression was mounted in the name of Islam and by the command of Mohammed as expressed in the Quran. Nowhere do they mention the fact that the Mohammedan barbarians swept out the Arabian peninsula to invade not just the Holy Land, but ALL of Christian North Africa and eventually the entire Christian Iberian peninsula. The First Crusade was more than an isolated effort to retake the Holy Land: it was the first blow in a defensive war against militant Islam.

At the Council of Clermont, in France, at which several hundred clerics and noblemen gathered, Urban delivered a rousing speech summoning rich and poor alike to stop their in-fighting and embark on a righteous war to help their fellow Christians in the East and take back Jerusalem. Urban denigrated the Muslims, exaggerating stories of their anti-Christian acts, and promised absolution and remission of sins for all who died in the service of Christ.

Suddenly the word Muslim appears – but it does so only in the context of Urban’s putative “denigration.” You see, the prevailing meme is that there is room for argument here – hence the use of the word “conflict” to describe what took place in the Holy Land – in much the same manner there is “conflict” today between Israelis and the Muslim savages who are determined to destroy them.

There was no need for Urban to exaggerate: atrocities have been part and parcel of Muslim “evangelization” ever since a criminally insane pedophile named Mohammed first began taking dictation from Satan. I know the folks at the History Channel know this. I also know they are cowards for bastardizing history.

Urban died in 1099, two weeks after the fall of Jerusalem but before news of the Christian victory made it back to Europe. His was the first of seven major military campaigns fought over the next two centuries known as the Crusades, the bloody repercussions of which are still felt today.

Bloody repercussions? From a series of poorly conducted defensive wars that did more harm to Christendom than they did to Islam? Seriously?

The problem with the Crusades is that they did not achieve the desired objective, namely, driving back these savages into the desert whence they came. More is the pity, because now 1.5 BILLION of them occupy space on this planet. Assuming one-tenth of one percent are of the jihadist persuasion, that means we are faced with an army of 1.5 MILLION insane Islamic evangelists determined to consign us to oblivion. Since nobody else has the courage to do so, I might as say that it’s time we finished our business with these barbarian assholes once and for all.

The battle plan is delightfully simple: kill every Islamic terrorist we find and execute every Islamic terrorist we capture – after torturing them for vital information if we believe they have it. There is no need to kill all Muslims…we need kill only enough of them to persuade the remainder to behave like Christians.
